Franklin 165 Cylinder on a Franklin 150
Seems I recall a reference somewhere that you could use a 165 cylinder on a 150, but not the other way.
I know about the difference in peening & valve guides
I've worked on Franklin's for 22 years now, but mostly 165's. I'm changing a cylinder on my son's 150, the cylinder I took off is a 165 PN.
The overhaul manual says you can't put a 165 cylinder on a 150, but says nothing about putting a 165 cylinder on a 150.
The last statement should say:
The overhaul manual says you can't put a 150 cylinder on a 165, but says nothing about putting a 165 cylinder on a 150.
@dwevenson the casting and sleeve are the same except the 165 is shot peened at the base. You can use a 165 cylinder on a 150 as long as you use the 150 hardware, guides, valves, springs etc...
Thanks for the info Tim.
I thought you could, but couldn't find and info on it. And there probably isn't any.
