Hello guys,

I'm a new member from French Polynesia (Tahiti). I recently bought a Stinson 10A to restore. I'm waiting the seller to ship me the box here than I will slowly but surely continue the restoration as some steps has already been done by the old owner.

I downloaded the Franklin engine manual and I need your help on a topic:
The recommended oil grade is SAE20, very fluid.
As you can guess here under the Tropics, temperature is very hot with high humidity.
What kind of oil grade do you recommend in this situation? The hotter it is, the higher the viscosity grade must be, right?

Thank you for the help,

Regards,

Romain

I had a homebuilt with that engine, ran great. I used 20-50wt oil.

Hello Michael,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I think I will run it with an SAE50.

Regards
