Group:

I need to replace some push rod seals and consequently purchase a push rod spring compressor. Will this one work from Aircraft Spruce on the Franklin 165?

Thank you.

Umm, Why would you need that? Just remove the rockers, pull the pushrods and remove the tubes. To remove the tubes I use a Lisle lifter removal tool P/N 13750.

Tim, you are correct. I got some bad information about the need for a compressor.

I am destined to be a Franklin mechanic!

It's really a simple engine to work on once you get to know its little quirks. Best of luck to you.

That Spruce tool is for Continentals and or Lycomings, some of which have springs on the pushrod tubes.
You do not need that on a Franklin, though sometimes they get stuck and it is hard to get them free without damage. Susan has a tool that works good for pulling the stubborn ones.
