Was taxiing my airplane two days ago when my seat collapsed and began to slide back, was able to stop airplane with no issue. I discovered the locking bracket on bottom of left seat cushion had broken freeing seat up. I searched Univair for a spare bracket but only found the lower seat cushion for sale. Has anyone encountered this issue and what was your fix. Thanks

Hello Greg:

Glad you discovered the seat issue before taking off! Wow.

Can you please post a photograph of the part that broke and any other related photographs to this thread?

This could help other people to carefully inspect such area.

I have personally not had any issues with the seats in our Stinson.

Thanks!

Bret, I will be glad to post pertinent photos and can update you on the totality of this mess. I returned to hangar this morning and further discovery revealed an even bigger issue: the lower left-hand bracket near floor had also broken and reason entire seat had not only collapsed but also slid fully rearward. Just off phone with Univair and they informed me they do NOT carry seat frame in inventory! So, I have two options and that is to find a seat frame on a discarded or damaged Stinson or, have one manufactured. Thanks for reply.

I think spare seats can be found in certain “Cluttered” hangars similar to mine! HA

For the record, Greg Lucas found a broken pilot seat frame on my -2, and we used a handy spare frame from his surplus items for the repair
